Background Information

Here in Scottish Forestry (SF) we are looking for new members to join our forestry team.  Would you like to work in forestry?  Want to work in one of our fantastic locations across Scotland?  If yes, why not think about joining one of Scottish Forestry’s Conservancy teams?

It’s an exciting time to join SF.  We are a relatively new executive agency of Scottish Government, which supports the delivery of the Scottish Government’s updated framework for forestry in Scotland, including woodland expansion and the regulation of felling.  We want you to become part of our new organisation and help shape the future of forestry in Scotland.

We strongly believe in an inclusive and supportive work culture.  We welcome applications from everyone regardless of background.  We are currently under-represented by women; therefore we encourage applications from females.

We are a flexible employer and encourage applicants who wish to work full time, part time or other flexible working patterns to apply.

The key responsibilities for the role will include:

You will carry out grants and regulation work, provide guidance to woodland owners and managers in Conservancies and promote forestry within Scotland.  Your role is key to delivering the Scottish Government’s priorities for forestry including woodland expansion.

•             Assess and process applications for Forestry Grant Scheme, forest plans and felling permissions;

•             Undertake regulatory roles in delivery of the Forest and Land Management Scotland Act;

•             Provide guidance and advice to woodland owners and managers;

•             Promote sustainable forestry to increase public knowledge and community participation.
