We are looking for new Trustees with strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness to commit to leading the charity in conjunction with the Senior Management Team.

If you are passionate about the wildlife of Surrey and nature conservation, work well in a team and have good interpersonal skills, can commit the necessary time and possess skills and proven experience in the areas below, we would like to hear from you:

  • Biodiversity, ecology, nature conservation policies, and environmental planning

The Trustees meet 6 times a year, usually on a Monday evening at Nower Wood near Leatherhead and Trustees are also expected to attend the AGM (held on a Saturday in November) plus up to 4 Trustee away days (mid-week). Further involvement is usually conducted through emails and phone calls or occasional sub groups meetings for those that want to be more involved. Trustees are appointed for three years and may be appointed for two subsequent terms before standing down.

Surrey Wildlife Trust (SWT) was formed 60 years ago to care for Surrey’s wildlife, and habitats for the benefit of the people of the County. The Trust currently manages sites which equate to c5% of the County, many of which are designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The Trust has nearly 15,000 members, representing the interest of 30,000 people, and employs over 100 staff.

Our Strategic Plan highlights the Trust’s vision and objectives under the headings of Biodiversity and Engagement and is available on our website.

We are keen to maintain a diverse Board of Trustees and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.  We provide a full induction and training programme.

If you are interested in becoming a trustee please submit your CV and covering letter to catherine.roberts@surreywt.org.uk. If you would like further information or an informal discussion with the Chairman, Chris Wilkinson, please email Catherine (who is our HR Director) with your contact details and this can then be arranged.

Closing Date for Applications: 30 June 2019. There will be an interview process through the Nominations Committee (a sub group of existing Trustees).
