Description  

We are currently seeking a student assistant for our international and diverse Science Team. We conduct cross-cutting research which analyses impacts and risks in order to understand the full implications of climate change, as well as to help develop pathways and scenarios to limit the increase in global temperatures to 1.5°C.In this role you will be researching (i) the role of carbon dioxide removal options in meeting the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C temperature goal and (ii) mitigation policies in a selection of Asian countries. You will also have the opportunity of working with our Climate Policy Team.

Your responsibilities

  • You will support the organization and preparation of content for meetings with project partners as well as external partners. You will also be responsible for taking notes and sending around summaries to the broader team.
  • You will conduct desk research on mitigation potential of carbon dioxide removal options.
  • You will contribute to evaluation of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) documents.
  • You will conduct desk research on climate change mitigation policies in a selection of Asian countries.
  • You will contribute to the reports published in the framework of the project.

Your profile

You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:

  • At least a Bachelor degree in environmental or related studies
  • Good overview of climate change mitigation related topics
  • Comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative analysis approaches. Familiarity with a coding language (e.g., Python or R) is desired, but not a must.
  • Good organizational skills, especially the ability to schedule meetings using doodle and other tools, sending calendar invites, and taking notes during meetings.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Our working language is English, therefore excellent English writing and verbal skills are necessary. Basic German skills are welcome, but not required, other language skills are an asset

Terms: Currently we can offer a fixed term contract for 12 months depending on your status as a student, with the perspective of extension based on performance and funding.
Requirements: You have to be a student who is enrolled at a university in Germany for at least another 12 months.
