Are you passionate about young people and keen to play a pivotal role in our open access service leading on early intervention and prevention to improve the mental wellbeing of children and young people across the London Borough of Southwark?
Groundwork London works with communities across the capital to transform their lives and the places they live. We have been at the forefront of social and environmental regeneration in London for over 25 years, and today we have a simple mission: to create better places, improve people’s prospects, and promote greener living and working. We are passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny, and no-one is held back by their background or circumstance.
The Nest is Groundwork London’s mental wellbeing support service for young people aged 11 – 25 and living in the London Borough of Southwark. Since launching as a remote service in May of 2020, right in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Nest has gone from strength to strength and we are looking for an experienced, skilled and driven therapeutic practitioner to help deliver our Strengthening Families for a Stronger Community project.
Funded by the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit and delivered by Groundwork London through The Nest, the Strengthening Families for a Stronger Community Project will provide a whole family approach to reducing serious youth violence. The Therapeutic Practitioner will help deliver the therapeutic arc of a programme which will offer support for the parents/carers/those with significant caring responsibility of young people of Caribbean and mixed Caribbean heritage who are at risk of being excluded from school.
Delivered with the support of a team manager and clinical lead, this pilot will blend together peer-to-peer support, therapeutic group work and educational workshops to build on the skills, knowledge and commitment of individuals and develop their capacity to become ‘agents of change.’ Participants will feel empowered and have opportunities to shape their own lives.
Please contact us if you have:
Experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and safety planning
- Experience of holding a caseload of service users
- Strong interpersonal communication skills – particularly in relation to working with parents, carers, those with significant caring responsibilities and socially excluded young people
- Knowledge and understanding of the barriers families face when accessing support
- Knowledge of the exclusion process and experience of working with young people at risk of exclusions, as well as their families
- An awareness of working to safeguard children and vulnerable adults, including relevant training
