Strengthening Families for a Stronger Community Clinical Lead

Location: The Nest’s hub in Peckham and other sites in the Borough as needed

Contract: Fixed Term until March 2023

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 pro rata depending on experience

Hours: 7.5 hours per week


Are you passionate about young people and keen to play a pivotal role in our open access service leading on early intervention and prevention to improve the mental wellbeing of children and young people across the London Borough of Southwark?

The Nest is Groundwork London’s mental wellbeing support service for young people aged 11 – 25 and living in the London Borough of Southwark. Since launching as a remote service in May of 2020, right in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Nest has gone from strength to strength and we are looking for an experienced, skilled and driven therapeutic practitioner to act as the Clinical Lead for our Strengthening Families for a Stronger Community project.

Funded by the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit and delivered by Groundwork London through The Nest, the Strengthening Families for a Stronger Community Project will provide a whole family approach to reducing serious youth violence. The Clinical Lead will oversee the therapeutic arc of a programme which offer support for the parents/carers/those with significant caring responsibility of young people of Caribbean and mixed Caribbean heritage who are at risk of being excluded from school.

Please contact us if you have:

  • Demonstrable experience of providing supervision to other practitioners
  • Significant experience of undertaking assessment, formulation, risk assessment and safety planning
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills – particularly in relation to working with parents, carers, those with significant caring responsibilities and socially excluded young people
  • Knowledge and understanding of the barriers families face when accessing support
  • Knowledge of the exclusion process and experience of working with young people at risk of exclusions, as well as their families
  • An awareness of working to safeguard children and vulnerable adults, including relevant training
