We are looking for a motivated and technically experienced Senior Programme Officer to work in the Business and Biodiversity programme. The programme delivers high quality biodiversity and natural capital data and information into the heart of private sector decision-making, and in doing so aims to enable more effective conservation of biodiversity worldwide.
Your challenge is to develop and deliver technical projects and partnerships that support UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre’s strategy and business plan. A strategic thinker, you will have a proven track record in managing complex, multi-client projects, which will set you up to oversee UNEP-WCMC’s Proteus Partnership (http://www.proteuspartners.org). This innovative collaboration supports extractives companies in the understanding and effective mitigation of impact on biodiversity. You will have the strong relationship management skills necessary to drive the partnership forwards into a new phase.
As an experienced and qualified individual with a sound analytical background we will provide you with the opportunity to lead and manage projects to deliver strong outcomes. You will bring established credibility with the private sector and a track record of developing new ideas and securing funding. You will have a passion for, and experience in engaging constructively with the private sector to deliver positive social and environmental outcomes, based on sound science. An outstanding collaborator with strong technical skills, you will be able to build on your existing networks and develop relationships to create new areas of work for UNEP-WCMC, guide the delivery of existing programmes and further the specialist knowledge base that underpins the organisation’s business engagement.
