Overview

Full-time, permanent with a competitive salary and bonus scheme

Ecology Solutions has an excellent opportunity for an experienced ecological professional to join our successful ecological consultancy, within our office in Hertfordshire. We are seeking a dedicated, driven and self-motivated individual to become an integral part of our committed team.

Ecology Solutions is a leading ecology consultancy practice. With over 35 years of experience in the field, we provide specialist advice and services to clients in the private and commercial sectors, negotiating extensively with local planning authorities, non-departmental public bodies and charities. We also work with our partner companies specialising in landscape consultancy and creation.

Working in a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will take a lead role in project management and mentoring of junior staff. They will report directly to the Directors, however, a high level of autonomy should be expected as part of the role.

We are looking for an individual with a well-rounded ecological skillset, including extensive surveying experience, excellent written skills, and an ability to effectively manage large scale projects. The following experience and skill sets are desired:

  • Good botanical skills, with the ability to undertake botanical surveys in accordance with UKHab and NVC survey methodologies;
  • Experience leading a wide range of protected species surveys including for Great Crested Newts, bats, Badgers, Dormice and reptiles (EPS licences desirable);
  • Ability to undertake analysis using DEFRA Metrics;
  • Production of reports including Ecological Assessments, EIA and sHRA reports;
  • Liaison with clients and statutory consultees;
  • Project management experience on schemes of varying scale; and
  • IT literate, including Microsoft packages and QGIS.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and benefit from a bonus scheme, a company pension and a career framework offering outstanding opportunities for progression. Staff benefits include a cycle to work scheme and Give a Day, Gain a Day charity volunteering scheme.

The position will include working on site, but otherwise can be either office based or hybrid working. Given the location of our projects, a full driving licence will be required.

How to apply:

If you have a passion for ecology and the experience to join our team, please view the attached job description. Please send your CV and a covering letter outlining your interest in the role and your experience and suitability for the post to east@ecologysolutions.co.uk.

Closing date: Monday 11th September 2023, but applications will be reviewed as received and successful candidates invited for interview.
