We have successfully supported our clients in delivering sustainable projects in sectors including energy, industry, restoration projects, residential and coastal redevelopment. Our work involves ecological surveys, assessment, compliance and advice, licensing, biodiversity net gain, ecological clerk of works, and habitat restoration design for exciting and important projects.
In parallel with project delivery, our UK Terrestrial Ecology Practice places an emphasis on continued learning and development. Job Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, conscientious and talented person keen to work on cutting edge projects and with excellent communication skills and technical ability in relation to terrestrial ecology. As part of this role you will lead and deliver protected species surveys and assist in all survey work from the project inception and proposal stages through to the completion of ecology reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Surveys Reports. You will provide ecological assessment and advice as a technical expert through all stages of the project lifecycle, including preparing Ecological Impact Assessments, Protected Species and Habitat Mitigation Strategies, Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species Licence applications, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments and Method Statements.
About You:
You will have an extensive ecological understanding and 5+ years of demonstrable experience working on a range of development projects, including undertaking baseline surveys and drafting
reports with a relevant degree in an environmental/ecological or similar subject (equivalent non-degree qualification will be considered).
This role might be right for you if you have:
· Extensive experience in the delivery of:
o Preliminary Ecological Appraisals,
o Ecological Impact Assessments,
o Protected Species and Habitat Mitigation Strategies,
o Ecological Management Plans,
o Protected Species Licence applications, and
o Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments.
· Lead and undertaken terrestrial species surveys and provide advice on mitigation measures using best practice.
· Excellent knowledge and a working understanding of relevant UK wildlife legislation, planning policies and licensing regulations.
· Experience in advising clients (internal and external) and liaising with stakeholders in respect to terrestrial ecological constraints and opportunities.
· Natural England protected species survey licenses, in particular for bats. Experience as the named ecologist on mitigation licences in would be advantageous.
· Full CIEEM member.
· Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) experience and/or liaising with Contractors.
· A willingness to travel occasionally will be required, along with a valid UK driving licence.
· Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, analytical and time management skills.
· Good interpersonal skills.

Remuneration and Key Figures:
· Salary (dependent on experience) - £35,000 to £45,000 pa
· Pension – employer contributions are up to 7% of basic salary
· 25 days paid annual leave, plus bank holidays and the option to buy up to 10 additional days of leave per calendar year
