The Fisheries Directorate within the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is responsible for the management and protection of fisheries and their supporting ecosystems within the Isle of Man and its territorial sea. An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and suitably qualified person to head up the Isle of Man's sea fisheries enforcement section within this diverse team of enthusiastic and dedicated officers.
We are looking for someone with fisheries enforcement experience, an understanding of UK and EU fisheries legislation and who has excellent team management skills to head up the Isle of Man's sea fisheries enforcement team.
The sea fish industry is worth £12 million to the Isle of Man economy and the Department is committed to its sustainable development.
You would have the responsibility for leading a team of officers in the effective enforcement of sea fisheries legislation within the Manx territorial sea and ashore including directing the use of the Department's fisheries patrol vessel.
The role requires you to have previous experience in a fisheries enforcement role, a knowledge of fisheries legislation and proven experience of managing a team.
We are looking for someone with great communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to build positive working relationships with team members, senior managers, political members and industry representatives.
