A great opportunity as arisen to join the Suffolk County Council's Suffolk Green Access team as a Rights of Way Officer, working from Rougham Service Delivery Centre.

Your role

If you are looking to develop a career in promoting walking and cycling, or improving the public's access to the natural environment, here is your opportunity. Suffolk is a county filled with natural beauty and over 50 miles of glorious coastline, home to historic towns and villages. Challenges include ensuring new developments protect and enhance green access and responding to the climate emergency.

Your responsibilities

* help us improve and develop our green access network, in line with local and national priorities

* deliver practical and fresh solutions

* build partnerships with communities, agencies and other councils.

You will need:

* to understand and apply access legislation

* great communication skills in person and in writing as you will be dealing with land managers, contractors and the public

* a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline/or equivalent experience.

The team

Suffolk County Council looks after 5600km of public rights of way, 5000ha open access, the England Coast Path National Trail and other forms of green access. Our vision is 'To get more people using and enjoying Suffolk's green access network.' Every member of the Rights Of Way and Access service plays a part in making this happen, and you can be part of that team.

Travelling requirements for your role

Frequent Travel Essential - We positively encourage the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role, you will need to travel, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.
