Global Canopy is a data-driven not for profit that targets the market forces destroying nature. We do this by improving transparency and accountability. We provide innovative open-access data, clear metrics, and actionable insights to leading companies, financial institutions, governments and campaigning organisations worldwide.
This role will sit in Global Canopy’s Corporate Performance team and take a lead on developing guidance for financial institutions to eliminate deforestation from their portfolios.
Deforestation-free finance: Global Canopy is working with a broad range of partners to develop guidance for the finance sector on how to eliminate deforestation in their clients’/holdings’ operations and supply chains. Upcoming guidance will be developed for specific types of financial institutions in order to support them on the details of strategies and tools they can use to engage with their clients or holdings. A high-level Roadmap has already been published and guidance for pension funds is under development.
Finance Sector Roadmap: Global Canopy is a member of the Finance & Deforestation Advisory Group which brings together experts in deforestation, nature-loss and sustainable finance to provide expertise and guidance to financial institutions as they seek to address their deforestation risks. This group has worked together to create the Finance Sector Roadmap for Eliminating Commodity-Driven Deforestationwhich was published in November 2021.

Experience of developing training or guidance content for the finance sector

Skills and experience:

Professional experience and good knowledge of one or more topics: ESG measurement, environmental disclosure and reporting, supply chains, sustainability, or financial services.
