Job description
At FLS, you’ll work with over a thousand talented, innovative, and committed people. Together we’re helping adapt and respond to climate change in Scotland, supporting the economy, protecting and enhancing the environment, and bringing increased positive benefits to the people of Scotland.
East region is looking for enthusiastic, practical, creative people to join our planning and environment team to help shape the future of Scotland’s forests and land.
We currently have 1 position, for a programme manager where you’ll prepare work programmes, co-ordinate work plans and manage data surveys and contribute to national initiatives and projects and ensure the public land is well cared for.
This post is located in either Dunkeld, Huntly or Durris. We live and work in iconic – or sometimes spectacular but lesser known – landscapes, often with great access to outdoor activities, but never that far from major towns, either. See more about where we live and work.
Main Duties
- Prepare Work Programmes for environment, peatland restoration, visitor facilities, stewardship and fencing based on a thorough understanding of the Land Management.
- Plans, associated supporting data, knowledge of the area and the requirement of the organisation to deliver on sustainable forest management, timber production, civil engineering, natural regeneration, environmental, social and other objectives across the region. Programmes are required to meet the UK Forestry Standard and the UK Woodland Assurance Standard.
- Undertake site visits and collaborate with relevant colleagues to explore opportunities to coordinate and deliver work efficiently. Lead on the preparation of work plans that set out site specific environmental, peatland restoration, visitor services, stewardship and fencing work streams and how to overcome local problems and constraints.
- Liaise between planning and delivery teams to ensure that programmes are practical and achievable over the required timeframe.
- Coordinate and manage the drone survey programme.
- As a member of the planning team, you may also be expected to manage staff, such as GIS and survey technicians.
