The Opportunity:
The WA Energy & Climate Change Team is diverse and located across several of our UK offices. We are looking to employ a technically focussed and commercially experienced candidate to assist in the delivery of our expanding climate change related services. The ideal candidate will be highly numerically and IT literate and knowledgeable in the impacts of climate change on the built environment. We are looking for a candidate with relevant professional knowledge, experience and skills as well as a positive and inquisitive mind set, and a desire to grow and develop the service area.

The workload will largely entail undertaking climate change and sustainability assessments for Environmental Impact Assessments, carbon accounting for corporate audits in line with legislation and industry standards, and developing carbon management and climate resilience strategies for businesses. Where required, the candidate will also support the wider Energy Team in a variety of technical disciplines including, but not limited to, energy assessments, resource and constraint mapping, and production of planning and EIA reports. The role will involve client management and business development activities.
 

You:
 

As the successful applicant, you will be likely to possess the following characteristics;

Essential

  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Climate or Environmental Science, or Science related subject with a strong elemental focus on climate change. 
  • Track record of working within the specialism of climate change science and climate change mitigation/adaptation
  • Strong grounding in IT and relevant software packages including Excel
  • Strong report writing capability
  • Capable of managing projects and prioritising workload
  • Comfortable working within a commercially focused business environment
  • Knowledge and/or experience in carbon accounting and life cycle analysis
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards e.g. SECR, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ISO 14064
  • A willingness to travel where necessary in fulfilment of company business
  • Understanding of the assessment of climate change impacts of built development projects (SBEM, SAP etc) and how these are mitigated

 

Desirable 

 

  • Experience and track record of client account management and business development
  • Client facing experience and interpersonal skills
  • Line management and team leadership ability
  • Connections within client organisations and the wider business community
  • Interest or capability in associated service lines such as Energy and EIA projects
  • Chartered with a relevant professional institute.

 

This role is open to all applicants with skills and experience within the Climate Change service line.  We are ideally looking for someone who is currently working at the Principal or Associate Director level in a similar organisation, or someone who is looking to progress into a role at this level.  Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
