Summary
To support the growth of the North Region, we are looking for a Planning Forester to help support the Woodland Creation Manager and Forest Managers in the preparation of woodland creation applications and long-term forest plans, ensuring that UKFS and UKWAS standards are met and maintained. Principle Responsibilities
- Assist the Woodland Creation Manager in the preparation of Woodland Creation Applications across England, Scotland, and Wales.
- Assist the Forest Managers in the preparation of Management Plans that outline the future management of the land and forests.
- Preparing proposals that are practical and can be used to obtain regulatory approval. These may include Habitat Management Plans, Predator Control Plans, Pollution Management Plans.
- Liaise with statutory and public consultees.
- Prepare grant applications.
Pryor & Rickett Silviculture actively supports professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and provides training for all staff relevant to the role of everyone.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate would be expected to have the following:
- Hold a Forestry or other environmental/land-based degree.
- Experience in forest or land management.
- Able to analyse and solve problems creatively.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Enthusiasm and be comfortable working in a team.
- Able to think strategically and identify the consequences of proposals.
- Competent user of IT including Microsoft Office products and Geographic Information Systems
- Clean, full UK Drivers Licence
Location and Geographic Area of Operation
This position will be located in our Carlisle or Stirling offices.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary from £25,000 - £32,000 per annum. Salary dependent upon experience.
- The company operates a stakeholder pension scheme.
- Annual leave of 23+ days plus bank holidays. Entitlement rises with length of service.

- Mobile phone, laptop and other necessary tools, equipment and PPE are provided.
