Job Purpose Summary
The Peatland ACTION Communications & Engagement Officer job offers an exciting opportunity to join the Peatland ACTION communications team and promote the work of the Peatland ACTION programme, to a range of audiences. You will play a key role in organising Peatland ACTION’s engagement and activity at relevant events and functions, as well as promoting the work of Peatland ACTION across a range of traditional and digital media. This role will take a lead in managing projects and other pieces of work which deliver the Aims of our Communications Plan. It will also promote the work of Peatland ACTION to key stakeholders and partners with the aim of encouraging land managers to engage with Peatland ACTION undertake peatland restoration.
Context
NatureScot’s Peatland ACTION programme restores damaged peatlands in Scotland. It is integral to the government’s determination for peatland to store carbon and contribute wider benefits for biodiversity, water management and green recovery.
NatureScot has dual roles in providing leadership on shared services/business solutions across all delivery partners and expanding delivery of peatland restoration on the ground.
The Peatland ACTION Programme is expanding in support of the government’s 10 year, £250m commitment for restoration. It currently has an annual budget of £11m and comprises over 40 posts, both within NatureScot and external project partner posts.
