Job description – Online Training Manager
Proforest is seeking an experienced online training professional to help to transform our approach to online training and e-learning resources management. The ideal candidate will have a track record in developing and delivering effective online training and knowledge sharing at an international organisation, for internal and external stakeholders as well as a strong interest in social and environmental sustainability and experience of working with different cultures and backgrounds. Candidates must be fluent in English; knowledge of a second language, especially Portuguese, Spanish, French, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia, is an advantage.

About this role
Proforest has expanded rapidly in recent years. With a growing workforce based in 15 countries and a successful trainee programme, we now need to be more systematic in our approach to providing online training and capturing, storing, sharing and using online training resources and information. We also wish to ensure that our external training and capacity building provision meets the needs of trainees, be they from the private sector, auditors, HCV-HCS assessors, NGO or government members.
This is a newly created position, which represents an exciting opportunity to shape the way Proforest builds capacity both internally and externally. Based in our Oxford office, this role links to our global communications and training teams.
The right candidate will be someone with a strong track record in developing and delivering effective online training and knowledge sharing at an international organisation. This role will encompass working with e-learning systems and associated software. We are looking for someone with in-depth knowledge of on-line learning platforms, processes and learning management systems, excellent written and verbal communications skills, experience of working with designers and translators and an organised and flexible approach.
Key responsibilities
Online training platform
- Set up and manage an online training platform / learning management system (LMS) for e-learning in collaboration with technical staff
- Overall coordination and support for the development of online training materials for an array of training courses
- Support development of new ways of capacity building through e-learning
- Work with technical colleagues on content of training courses
E-learning and resources management strategy
- Assess existing resources, add and maintain to them
- Develop Proforest’s e-learning strategy in consultation with directors and key staff
- Provide training and advice on a range of best practice tools and approaches for e-learning
- Be a point of contact and advice on online training for colleagues
Experience, competencies and qualities
- Degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
- At least four years’ experience in an e-learning / online training role.
- Experience of developing e-learning plans and content.
- Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle or Paradiso
- Excellent editorial skills – able to turn complex material into engaging content.
- Good digital skills and awareness of HTML.
- Excellent project management skills.
Contract type and reporting lines
- Permanent contract.

Location, hours, salary
- Location: Oxford, UK.
- Hours: full time (we are happy to discuss slightly less than full time)
- Travel: UK and international travel may be required from time to time.
- Salary: £32-37,000 dependent on experience
