This is an exciting opportunity to become a key part of the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape team. We’re looking for an experienced individual to promote, support and deliver nature recovery work in the area.

What’s it like to work here

The Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape Partnership is dedicated to conserving and enhancing this nationally protected landscape. We are a small friendly multidisciplinary team based in Arnside. The National Landscape Partnership is hosted by Lancaster City Council and involves many other organisations, so you’ll be part of this wider community too.

Recognised as one of the country’s finest landscapes, Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape is especially celebrated for its wealth of plants, birds and butterflies and extraordinary range of diverse habitats.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be instrumental in developing and delivering nature recovery projects working with local communities, land managers and partner organisations, as well as carrying out monitoring and providing technical ecological advice - playing a key role in conserving the area’s special habitats and species and enabling people to connect with nature.

You’ll need to have:

  • Proven experience of partnership working and success in conservation/nature recovery
  • Excellent technical knowledge of ecology and habitat restoration relevant to Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape
  • Good experience of programme/project management and delivery
  • Exellent ability to communicate in a range of formats in order to inspire, engage and involve others
  • Excellent organisational and office/ICT skills
  • Enthusiasm, energy, self-motivation and a willingness to learn and develop

This post is temporary until June 2026. The hours of work for this position are 22.2 per week, normal working days will be agreed by negotiation. The role will require occasional weekend, bank holiday and evening working by arrangement, and lone working. This post is based at the National Landscape Office and Information Centre, The Old Station Building, Arnside with provision for hybrid working.    

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to travel to sites across the National Landscape and wider area, including countryside sites. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.
