SSQC is an independent quality assurance organisation that provides specialist, time critical services to both public and private sector clients. As part of this service we operate laboratory services, and undertake microbiological analysis including accredited tests on food, water and environmental samples, providing services to meet quality assurance and legislative requirements.
Our company has secured funding from the European Maritime Fisheries Fund, to undertake a three year research project, to trial a new microbiological monitoring programme for Shetland mussels.
We therefore wish to recruit a Project Officer to develop testing methods, undertaking testing, and record and interpret results. Applicants should be educated to degree level and have previous experience of working in a laboratory environment. Experience of PCR testing and MPN and/or impedance methods are also desirable. This post will involve weekend working, and sample collection, therefore a full clean driving licence is essential.
This is a fixed term contract, with an estimated start date of January 2021 The normal place of work will be at our premises at Port Arthur, Scalloway, Shetland, Shetland Isles, ZE1 0UN. Normal hours of work are 35 per week, and salary level is £25,531.74. SSQC is an admitted body to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
