Description |

SPECIFIC DUTIES
1. Expand the portfolio of investment in species conservation action by developing partnerships with public and private sector actors
1.1 Identify relevant prospects and map opportunities by conducting in-depth market assessment at sector, industry and company level, based on business objectives as well as SCA’s strategic priorities; lead the negotiations and coordinate all business discussions and funding engagements with external and internal parties; conclude agreements.
1.2 Lead the implementation of the IUCN SOS Business Engagement Strategy; monitor and evaluate the strategy’s effectiveness and implement any possible adaptations; conduct due diligence on all private sector engagements as needed; oversee the portfolio of corporate engagements, acting as key account leader.
1.3 Pilot innovative ways to reach out to donors by leveraging a variety of digital tools and social media.
1.4 1.4 Develop partnership concepts tailor- made to the donor’s needs, areas of interests and requirements, whether the donors are foundations, institutional donors or corporate donors.
2. Strategic communications for partnerships in species conservation action
2.1 Lead the development and implementation of the SCA Communications Strategy, including the development of our WHOs / targets (new donors, general public, conservation community), the development of our value proposition (WHAT) and the best tools to reach our audiences (HOW); monitor and evaluate the strategy’s effectiveness and implement any possible adaptations; work in close collaboration with other Teams within the Centre for Conservation Action and with the Global Communication Unit (GCU) to promote awareness and impact of investments.
2.2 Ensure the delivery of project communication outcomes as required in donor agreements.
2.3 Ensure that the IUCN and IUCN SOS visual identities are fully applied in all communications including the dedicated IUCN SOS website; lead any legal procedures regarding IUCN SOS trademarks registration as well as litigations and claims arising from the IUCN SOS trademark, in partnership with the IUCN legal department.
3. Involvement in the implementation of species conservation action initiatives within the Centre for Conservation Action
3.1 Contribute towards the development and implementation of new investment priorities to expand the scope and reach of IUCN's Species Conservation Action portfolio.
3.2 Collaborate with other CCA Teams to ensure an integrated approach to partnership development in the CCA.
3.3 Collaborate in particular with the Knowledge Management and Library Team to maximise opportunities to learn from and communicate the outcomes of species conservation action investments.
4. Staff supervision and team development
4.1 Manage the Digital Communications Associate by providing direction, coaching, and feedback; develop the work plan and manage the yearly performance evaluation; lead recruiting processes when needed; positively contribute towards the developing of the team.
5. Representation and events
5.1 Represent IUCN at relevant meetings and events.
