Description

Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

The government has set ambitious targets for the use of renewable energy in the coming years and offshore wind is seen as an integral part of the energy supply infrastructure. This has the potential to see billions invested in offshore transmission and Ofgem is responsible for managing the competitive tender process through which offshore transmission licences are granted. This role presents an opportunity to play a key role in a high profile and high value project within a growing sector of the energy marketplace, and to make a meaningful contribution to the future of sustainable energy.

As well as contributing to policy development you will also have responsibility for key stages and milestones in the tendering process, including designing initial specifications and coordinating project qualification processes. You’ll be a key point of contact in relation to commercial aspects of the tendering process and you can expect considerable liaison with legal and policy colleagues, and to contribute progress reports to senior management.

You should already have experience of designing and delivering commercial tender processes, in either a private or public sector setting. You’ll need highly developed project management skills, to co-ordinate multiple workstreams and deadlines, while working with a range of different stakeholders. Good all-round communication skills are a must-have along with experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. An interest in renewable energy would be a positive attribute and you should be an individual who is highly motivated to deliver outstanding project results.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Restaurant and subsidised gym
  • Interest free season ticket loan
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Perkbox (staff discount scheme)
  • Employee Wellbeing Programme.

Closing date: 17 June 2019.

Ofgem is an equal opportunities employer. Protecting consumers and powering the future of the energy debate.
