Do you want to work for one of the UK's leading Water Companies and make a difference? United Utilities owns 56,000 hectares of land across the North West. Most of our land holding is raw water catchment land which is managed to protect water quality and storage for affordable, safe and resilient public supplies.
As a member of the Land Management Strategic Planning Team, the Land Management Analyst will play a pivotal role in creating land management plans, putting water quality first whilst integrating multiple strategic objectives including; biodiversity, woodland creation, nature recovery, climate change and renewable energy opportunities.

- Responsible for the capture and analysis of land data across a variety of themes including biodiversity, land carbon, land use, habitat condition and land risks.
- Recording and analysing land data on behalf of the Land Management Asset Manager to support the creation of land management plans.
- Work closely with water asset management teams to integrate water quality risk analysis with land management planning activities.
- Develop methodologies for the integrated assessment of land values such as carbon, biodiversity and broader ecosystem services, supporting the companies land use decision making processes.
- To record and analyse land risks and opportunities, recording them in GIS and other corporate systems to support strategy development, investment prioritisation and business case production.

- To undertake background analysis, produce reports and associated infographics to enable effective presentation of data and information on behalf of the land and estates teams.
- Support land management and associated governance meetings, working groups and core teams to ensure that they are receiving information required.
- Work closely with the company’s Property, Planning & Ecology, Carbon, Long Term Strategy, Energy and Water Strategy teams to create and maintain an accurate record of land related data.
What you’ll bring?
We’re looking for someone who;
- Is educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or with skills from a depth of practical experience in an environmental, land management and/or catchment conservation setting.
- Expert and experience of working with geographical information systems (GIS) in a land based context, with the ability to create data sets and associated infographics.
- Knowledge of emerging land management value assessments for biodiversity, ecosystem services and land carbon values.
- Ability to analyse complex data sets and communicate findings in a clear and accessible way.
- Understanding of data compliance and data management methodologies.
- Ability to work with business subject matter experts to define business rules by which to profile data sets to check adequacy of data to fulfil specific business processes.
- Confidence and ability to lead meetings/workshops with representatives from across the business.
- A methodical “completer/finisher” approach to administration and documentation.
- Personally organised with a structured and logical approach.
