We are looking for an intern with a good eye for detail to help support our technical and communications materials for our Climate Change and Biodiversity Programme.
The UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre works with scientists and policy makers worldwide to place biodiversity at the heart of environment and development decision-making to enable enlightened choices for people and the planet.
The work of the Climate Change and Biodiversity (CCB) programme focuses on the impacts of climate change and climate-related policy on biodiversity and ecosystem services and the role of biodiversity and ecosystem services in supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation. CCB’s projects on mitigation include direct technical support to countries on map-based analyses for planning action on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) and on national approaches to REDD+ safeguards. On adaptation, the programme focuses on ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA), including through building the evidence base, identifying good practice and tools that support it, as well as policy and other barriers to and enablers for its implementation, and supporting planning and monitoring at project and programme scales.
Monitoring and evaluation is a critical and strategic area of development for the Climate Change and Biodiversity Programme's work on ecosystem-based adaptation. There has been considerable interest from partners and funders in the thinking we have done on this, and there is an urgent need to consolidate our progress into some concrete outputs.
The intern will work with us on developing technical and communications materials on this aspect of our work, including helping to prepare for the Climate Change Convention’s Conference of the Parties in December and associated events. S/he may also contribute to implementation of related projects on ecosystem restoration.
We are looking for an Intern to start as soon as possible for 8-12 weeks. If you are interested in this placement, please submit a CV and covering letter through the link below by 30th September 2018. Please note an application form is not required with this placement.
Please note this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
