Role Profile

ZSL is seeking a collaborative and solutions-focused IT professional to support our Conservation and Policy (C&P) division, which has 250 staff delivering conservation work globally. The ICT Global Support Manager will be based in the UK and regularly liaising with the teams in ZSL’s 10 international offices to build strong relationships and ensure that they have access to the IT services they require. During 2019/20 you will be leading on a project to manage ZSL’s global ICT services partner who will be upgrading all overseas computers to ZSL’s standard of Windows 10 and Office365, this will involve managing ZSL’s global ICT services partner who will provide onsite technical resource to perform the upgrades. Reporting to the ICT Operations Manager, the role holder will act as a dedicated point of contact for country office managers and the global ICT service provider. You will work closely with the other specialists in the ICT team to design and refine the solutions used by our global offices.

 

This person will require strong communication skills, with a solid awareness of varied working cultures and experience of the NGO operational environment is an advantage. The successful candidate will also need to possess exceptional time-management skills and be able to keep track of multiple priorities. Proven experience supporting and installing ICT solutions, services and processes in small to medium sized offices is essential, as well as managing supplier relationships and performance, preferably with an international focus. The nature of this role will give the post holder access to confidential and sensitive data so the post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable with UK and local data protection legislation. Lastly, prior experience configuring office ICT infrastructure including PCs, peripherals and routers/ firewalls and Microsoft Windows networking configuration and management is also highly advantageous.

 

Please note: We are also open to applicants choosing whether they wish to be based at either London Zoo, Regents Park or Whipsnade Zoo, Dunstable. In addition we are open to having conversations with applicants around flexible working.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will ideally have: 

  • Adept at dealing with different personalities and cultures, and able to prioritise and manage own work load
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English, able to build effective relationships as part of multicultural, international team through a supportive, culturally-aware approach
  • Knowledge of another language would be an advantage.
  • Supporting and installing ICT solutions, services and processes in small to medium sized offices, preferably in a not-for-profit / NGO environment
  • Ideally degree level or demonstrable experience in a similar role; or Microsoft Certified qualifications in the areas of desktop operating systems and network management
  • Configuring office ICT infrastructure, including PCs, peripherals and routers/ firewalls
  • Knowledge of configuring and using Office 365 from a user perspective
  • Proven experience of troubleshooting and problem solving on IT equipment and system
  • Supporting staff using Microsoft Office 365 products
  • ICT operational management in small to medium sized offices
  • Detailed documentation skills to maintain up to date information on all systems
  • Microsoft Windows operating systems – Windows 10; Microsoft Windows networking configuration and management
  • General TCP/IP networking concepts
  • Microsoft Office 365 products and administration
  • Excellent presentation, reporting and communication skills, able to distil complex information, and offer practical solutions to CP colleagues, both in the UK and internationally.
  • Excellent planning skills along with a good understanding of project management principles to support delivery of solutions
  • Advanced skills in using MS office packages, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • An ability to manage competing priorities and seek support from colleagues in order to deliver solutions in a timely manager to non-UK staff
  • Willingness to seek support and assistance from other team members when necessary

Please note: Whilst the role is based at our main office in Regent's Park the functional nature of the job may require the post holder to also to travel to ZSL country offices in Asia and Africa as required. You may also be required to work occasional evenings and weekends and carry out visits to external agencies, consultancies and organisations as and when necessary; time off in-lieu will be given.
