Description  

Woodland Savers is a mission-driven organisation focused on reversing nature decline. They enable communities to power nature recovery by acquiring and actively managing local land. Woodland Savers aligns crowdfunding with institutional finance, and balances local equity, management, and participation with national financial and ecological expertise.

 

Role Description

 

Head of Woodlands is a full-time hybrid role, with some work at and anytime access to the head office in London, the ability to work from home, and with regular site visits to woodlands across the UK. The Head of Woodlands will be responsible for supporting the development of Woodland Savers community woodland projects, developing and implementing ecological management plans, overseeing staff and contractors, and partnering with local communities for conservation and restoration efforts.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience in ecological land management, particularly with woodlands
  • Experience managing and leading staff and contractors
  • Ability to develop and implement ecological management plans, including conducting surveys, analyzing data, and presenting findings
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with local communities and stakeholders
  • Experience contributing to fundraising and grant writing
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in ecology, forestry, environmental science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with GIS and mapping software preferred
  • Passion for conservation and nature restoration
