Blue Marine Foundation aims to restore the ocean to health. Building on over a decade of experience, Blue Marine is securing the creation of marine protected areas, establishing models of sustainable fishing, restoring habitats, tackling overfishing and connecting people with the sea.
Blue Marine is seeking a Head of Development to generate new corporate donor relationships, supporting the Development Director to open doors to potential donors, secure meetings, write fundraising applications, present and win funding.
This role is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team at the cutting edge of marine conservation.
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on knowledge and experience, plus a living in London supplement (if based in London)
Contract: 12 month Fixed-term maternity cover
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am - 6pm
Location: Somerset House, London, and/or working remotely
Benefits: A generous benefits package is offered, including an optional subsidy of £1,800 per year which is currently available to employees attending the office at least two days per week
Holidays: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays and time off over Christmas

Role and Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with corporate partners, trusts and foundations and individual donors.
- Work closely with project teams to manage and deliver tailored funding reports.
- Develop and submit proposals to potential funders.
- Reach out to and engage with new funders.
- Deliver presentations to existing and potential funders.
- Seek new fundraising opportunities to support Blue Marine's core and projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with Blue Marine corporate partners.
- Represent BLUE at external meetings to win funding.
- Explore opportunities for a membership programme to support Blue Marine’s core.
- Maintain corporate partners organisations spreadsheet.
- Any other ad-hoc duties as specified by the Development Director.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience within a similar position.
- Excellent written, numerate and verbal communications skills.
- Interested in the conservation of the environment and the oceans.
- Confident presentational skills.
- Strong MS Office skills in Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
- Thorough attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to prioritise and deal effectively with a busy workload.
- Able to learn and adapt quickly.
- Self-motivated, with rigorous attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure as part of a team.
