Groundwork London, in partnership with Parks for London, is creating a Green Space Skills Hub as part of the London Mayor’s Academies Programme. The Hub will bring together a partnership of leading green space organisations and help deliver the commitments of the London Green Space Commission
Our green space focus will include more than just traditional parks and formal spaces, it will include land on housing estates, verges, street space, green roofs, and wherever informal spaces are and or can be green.
The Green Space Skills Hub Manager will lead the hub and its staff team of circa 5, on behalf of the partnership, bringing together a range of London’s green space stakeholders to:
- Increase the skills of all those commissioning, designing, building, managing, and maintaining London’s green spaces – responding to the climate and ecological emergencies and providing healthy, social spaces for Londoners.
- Support all stakeholders to create a workforce reflective of London’s diversity.
- Secure good work for Londoners hardest hit by the pandemic in traditional and non-traditional green space
- Develop an industry-leading partnership of employers which includes public and private sector employers, strategic bodies, and training providers including London’s leading green space college to up-skill, fill vacancies and develop and coordinate high-quality training, work experience, and wider employment support
Groundwork London works with communities across the capital to transform their lives and the places where they live. We have been at the forefront of social and environmental regeneration in London for over 25 years, and today we have a simple mission: to create better places, improve people’s prospects, and promote greener living and working. Groundwork is passionate about creating a future where every neighborhood is vibrant, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny, and no one is held back by their background or circumstances.
We would like to hear from you if you:
- Have a passion for London’s green spaces.
- Have the ability to bring together stakeholders to build the skills and increase the diversity of the sector’s workforce to create & maintain green spaces that are for all Londoners, and respond to and mitigate against climate & ecological emergencies.
