Position Summary

BGCI is seeking to appoint an individual to implement BGCI’s Grants, Appeals and Awards Programme, coordinate communications with applicants and members, and provide conservation services for members and the conservation community.

Candidates must be able to show their capacity to innovate and to implement change. They must also be able to inspire BGCI’s members around the world, and have competent IT skills, managing a CRM database and communications. Candidates for this post will have a proven track record working for a conservation or scientific organisation, preferably in plant conservation. The post holder will demonstrate sensitivity to complex, multicultural and multinational institutions and structures.

Remuneration:

£25,000 - £27,000 (dependent on level of qualifications)

There are an estimated 3,500 botanic gardens and arboreta in the world attracting 750 million visitors each year. Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is at the centre of this network. All of these member gardens share a commitment to making sure that no plant species becomes extinct, and they have a combined workforce of many thousands of horticulturalists and scientists working towards that end.
