An exciting opportunity has arisen to help improve biodiversity and habitat information in Cambridgeshire, benefitting wildlife and informing future management, planning and research across the region.
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Environmental Records Centre (CPERC) are looking for someone to take on the role of GIS and Habitats Data Officer. Candidates should possess significant GIS experience and have the desire to apply that to improving local biodiversity information for the purposes of aiding nature conservation, planning and scientific research. Strong data management skills, including working to high standards of accuracy and organisation, are essential.
CPERC is hosted by the Wildlife Trust BCN and based at their offices in Cambourne, and as the Local Environmental Records Centre for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is the central source for biodiversity information for the area. We work with a wide range of data users and providers, and the GIS and Habitats Data Officer will take the lead in managing habitat information for the centre; at present this is primarily leading an established long-term project to map broad habitats across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Hybrid working may be possible, but weekly office attendance is required. There will also be occasional travel for meetings, training and events across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.
