Groundwork London are responsible for the management and coordination of the Waltham Forest Food Hub, based in Chingford. The Food Hub distributes surplus food to food banks and food aid organisations in the borough, who then redistributes this food to those who use their service. This essential service ensures foodbanks have the ability to provide sufficient, safe and nutritious food to all those who use their services, whilst also diverting food away from the waste cycle.
The Food Hub Project Manager will manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the food hub, working directly with stakeholders and partners, including the council, foodbanks and surplus food suppliers. The postholder will be supported by and manage the Food Hub Officer team and lead the recruitment and coordination of a team of volunteers.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Site, stock and warehouse management, including collection and delivery logistics
- Supply / demand forecasting and project reporting, informed by data from foodbanks partners and organisations
- Expand food sourcing and procurement from both the surplus / waste food chain and wider suppliers
- Volunteer/staff management and recruitment
Each day is fast-paced, with emerging and changing priorities. This role is physically demanding and will involve regular lifting and moving goods. Full training in manual handling and use of front-end loading equipment will be provided.

- Highly organised, able to prioritise and lead in a fast-paced working environment
A driving licence is essential for this role.
