Do you have a passion for food and want to be at the forefront of food distribution in Barnet?
Barnet Food Hub coordinates the distribution of food to food banks and community groups across the borough. Set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this essential service ensures Barnet based foodbanks have the ability to provide sufficient, safe and nutritious food to all those who use their services, whilst also diverting food away from the waste cycle. Barnet Food Hub distributes food to 15 Barnet food banks each week – and many other food aid organisations across the borough. On average 22 tonnes of food is distributed each month, which supports approximately 4500 people per week.
Groundwork London are seeking a Barnet Food Hub Officer / Driver to join our current team to support the daily operations at the hub. Main duties will include:
- Collect surplus food from partner organisations (such as Felix project), delivering food back to the Food Hub warehouse
- Organise surplus food received at the warehouse
- Stock selection for food bank collections
- Uphold site safety and cleanliness procedures at all times, with a focus on food safety and hygiene standards
Each day is fast paced at the Hub, with emerging and changing priorities. This role is physically demanding and will involve regular lifting and moving goods. Full training in manual handling and use of front end loading equipment will be provided.
The successful postholder must have a Driving License and be confident to drive a Mercedes Sprinter van.

The Barnet Food Hub is delivered by Barnet Together. Barnet Together is a collaboration between Inclusion Barnet, Volunteering Barnet and the Young Barnet Foundation. Collaboratively we provide quality training, volunteering support and provide vital resources and advice for Barnet’s community organisations.
