Our Asset Performance Teams manage flood and coastal erosion risk assets to reduce the impact of flooding and protect our communities. We’re involved in the whole lifecycle of our assets from planning, delivery and maintenance, to responding to incidents and decommissioning. It also means managing the effects of climate change.
Your role with us
You will take an active role in managing our flood & coastal risk assets within a geographical area. Your enthusiasm and positive outlook will help you find solutions and ensure our assets are inspected, surveyed, maintained, and operated safely, effectively, and efficiently to reduce flood risk for people and property. You will engage in the delivery of maintenance and flood defence projects and liaise and support with internal and external customers in the delivery of our annual work programme. You will also assist in the continual improvement of our ways of working under our Asset Management System and help maintain our ISO55000 accreditation.
As part of the team and wider flood risk management work you will be supporting an overview of flood risk through strategic planning, understanding of flood risk, permitting and enforcement of flood risk activities, influencing development, management of our flood risk asset portfolio and responding to flood incidents.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
What do I need?
We're seeking individuals with a passion to better protect our communities at flood risk. The key things we’re looking for are transferable skills and capabilities. Ideally, you’ll be able to demonstrate most or all of the following:
- Asset management experience, including identifying risk, contingency planning and whole life asset management would be beneficial but not essential.
- Confident communication and customer service skills, as you will be working with internal and external partners, plus members of the public.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
Desirable
- Formal qualifications or experience in civil engineering e.g. CEng
- Project management experience e.g. PRINCE2
- Data and information management e.g. GIS
- Experience of current Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015
- Be proficient in data and information management
You will be offered comprehensive induction/training and will be given the time and space to learn while doing the role.
Travel to site and across the area you work will be required, therefore, a full UK driving licence is essential.
