Reporting to a Senior Fisheries Standard Manager, this post is within the Fisheries team of the Science and Standards department. The role has particular focus on technical work related to the environmental impact of fishing and the requirements of Principle 2 of the Fisheries Standard. As a member of a team, you will primarily contribute to the:
- Management of a portfolio of fisheries in the programme and oversight of their assessment;
- Review and development of the MSC’s Fisheries Standard and Fisheries Certification Process, with a focus on work related to Principle 2;
- Implementation and evaluation of the internal policies and procedures that support the team’s functions.
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated individual with professional experience within the fields of fisheries science and management, marine ecology or marine conservation. You will have excellent knowledge of the environmental impacts of fishing and relevant mitigation measures and strategies. Practical experience with the ecosystem approach to fisheries management is desirable, as is experience of third-party certification schemes including the MSC program. You will also have a strong teamwork ethic and excellent project planning, organisation and time management skills.
