About the Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF)

EJF’s Mission is to Protect People and Planet.

EJF works to protect the environment, wildlife and natural habitats and defend the human rights of vulnerable people around the globe. We work with communities, governments and industry to document threats to environmental security and to promote sustainable, equitable solutions. Our work focuses on international supply chains for products including seafood and cotton, which have resulted in environmental degradation, poverty, and forced labour, and to address the environmental injustice arising from them. Current campaigns and projects include protection for oceans, with a focus on West Africa and Asia; ending human trafficking in fisheries; securing support for climate refugees; and the eradication of toxic pesticides.

In the past 3 years, EJF’s work has expanded significantly – we now have offices in Ghana, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Spain and Germany as well as the headquarters here in the UK. EJF is expanding the scale and scope of our campaigns and field projects and recruiting staff accordingly, to join the 35 people already working with us internationally.
