About the role:

 

GUHG is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2050 and are looking for someone to take up an instrumental role in the delivery of this; finding new, innovative and economical ways to reduce our waste and energy consumption.

 

The Environmental Sustainability Manager will work to ensure compliance with the relevant legislative and environmental responsibilities. You will develop, implement and monitor our organisational environmental sustainability strategies, and will be responsible for communicating these plans and strategies to customers, external stakeholders and colleagues. You will also develop and lead environmental performance improvement projects to establish a sound foundation and framework for the delivery of the organisation’s strategic objectives.

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Degree level, or demonstrable equivalent experience, in an environmental science or sustainability discipline.

  • A strong understanding of the main environmental issues that affect housing associations.

  • Demonstrable experience in building networks to ensure high quality data reporting and to identify and share best practice.

  • An understanding of how environmental management systems work.

  • Trained or well experienced in use of Microsoft Excel.

  • Have knowledge of any environmental legislation relevant to housing associations e.g. waste.

  • A great communicator who can engage and enthuse stakeholders across the business.
