RBGE are one of the world’s leading scientific botanic gardens, holding knowledge gained over centuries that the world needs today. All known life depends on plants and fungi, and it is our mission to explore, conserve and explain the world of plants for a better future. Our four Scottish gardens – Benmore, Dawyck, Logan and ‘The Botanics’ in Edinburgh – attract over a million visitors every year. Together, these gardens comprise one of the richest plant collections on earth.

Thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we have an amazing opportunity to be a part of a team working on community engagement as part of an exciting redevelopment at RBGE. You will lead on community engagement to deliver an NLHF funded Activity Programme over 4 years working with different ages and communities.

Diversity too! is part of the wider Edinburgh Biomes programme – an ambitious restoration and engagement project that aims to ensure the long-term future of our living collection. Diversity too! is shaped through engagement with 4 key themes which are further explained in the information sheet linked below.

Applicants should have experience of community engagement delivery and be able to demonstrate a commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Experience of managing projects with diverse stakeholders is vital to this role.

This post would be considered as regulated work with children and/or adults at risk as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will therefore be required to be a PVG scheme member and undergo a scheme update prior to employment commencing.
