BRAC, an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972, has partnered with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise human potential. Born, proven and led in the Global South, we are recognised for developing and implementing cost-effective, evidence-based programmes, working with communities in marginalised situations, hard-to-reach areas, and post-disaster settings across 16 countries in Asia and Africa with a particular focus on women and children.
While continuing to serve communities in poverty, we are now stepping up across all our operations to meet the climate challenge. As recognition of the climate crisis and its impact on social development grows around the globe, so must investment in locally-led approaches to tackle and adapt to these challenges. In recent years, BRAC has dedicated increasing attention and resources to its climate change portfolio. In early 2023, senior leadership committed to setting up a cross-BRAC Climate Hub to advance climate-related programming, research, policy, partnerships, and advocacy priorities.
BRAC and BRAC International are now seeking a motivated and exceptional global leader with extensive climate change experience to design and deploy a cross-functional Climate Hub that will strengthen its position, ambition, programming, and presence in the climate change arena.

They will provide leadership on climate change with relevant colleagues across the BRAC family, design and advance BRAC and BRAC International’s global climate change priorities, programmes, and positioning, and bring expert oversight to the range of climate programming across the organisation. The Director will lead a cross-functional working unit, engaging the input of programme staff, senior leadership, and external partners, whilst serving as the key focal point for climate change within the BRAC family.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in senior climate change leadership positions, ideally gained in complex organisations across multiple countries. To
match both the scale of the need and BRAC’s ambition, you will be skilled at engaging staff from across the entirety of the BRAC family, as well as have the ability to lead through influence and example, a sensitivity to diverse cultures, and a capacity to operate in a highly matrixed setting.
You will bring excellent external engagement skills to strengthen BRAC’s leadership and influence in climate-related policy, advocacy and thought leadership spaces, and have a demonstrated track record of securing funding. The ideal candidate must display a strong commitment to BRAC’s mission and values, including promoting Southern leadership, and you will ideally bring experience of living and working in the Global South.
