Organisation Overview

Blue Ventures is an award-winning marine conservation organisation working to rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities. We’re committed to protecting marine biodiversity in ways that benefit coastal people. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures and economies, and where there is a fundamental unmet need to support human development.

Summary Job Description

Do you have a passion for conservation communication? Do you care about the marine environment and the communities who rely on it? Do you want to be part of a rapidly growing organisation as we scale our impact, catalysing conservation in some of the world’s most remote and important marine biodiversity hotspots?

As Blue Ventures’ Communications Coordinator – Outreach, you will be a key member of our international digital and outreach teams, working closely with our partner support technicians to document learning in official reports, toolkits and news articles as well as telling engaging stories from the field, whether they be photo stories, blogs, or social media campaigns.

Reporting to the Head of Digital and working closely with our Outreach Director and team, this will be a full-time permanent role based in Blue Ventures’ London or Bristol offices.

The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive and highly organised individual, with a good knowledge of the small-scale fisheries, marine conservation and rural development sectors. You’ll be able to proactively engage a range of different audiences with your writing, and comfortable taking a project all the way from idea to a variety of published outputs depending on the context.

Application Process

Applicants should apply online, using the form below, by 30 September 2018.

Please note that applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and first-round interviews may be conducted with short-listed candidates before the application deadline.

All shortlisted candidates will be contacted within two weeks of the closing date.

If you have any questions about the advertised role or would like to discuss your application informally, please contact martin@blueventures.org.
