The Vacancy
Are you passionate about our oceans and keen to work with businesses in supporting fisheries that have met our globally recognised standard for sustainability?
We are looking for a Commercial Officer to join our UK and Ireland team who can support the fish and chip sector, as well, as leading brands, retailers, and other food service businesses to bring sustainable seafood to UK consumers.
Our Commercial Officer will have a core support role in aiming to deliver the MSC programme to UK consumers, by providing further MSC eco-labelled products on both retail packs and restaurant menus. The UK is one of the most well-established and dynamic MSC markets.
With growing consumer awareness about the challenges facing our oceans, there is ample opportunity to increase the delivery of MSC-certified sustainable fish and seafood to consumers.
We are a dynamic team and have set ambitious targets for increasing the availability of certified sustainable seafood and the number of UK fisheries that are to meet our standard.
You will have a key supporting role in contributing to the successful workings of the Commercial team and its activities in the UK & Irish market.
You will be participating in multiple projects, building relationships with our partners, and liaising closely with the UK and Ireland Communications and Fisheries teams, as well as other MSC teams across our global network.
We’re looking for someone who:
- is capable of building strong relationships with commercial partners and delivering positive commercial outcomes for both partner and organisation
- has a passion for sustainability and an interest in the health of the world’s oceans
- has a technical and commercial mindset, to apply the MSC’s traceability standards and licensing rules effectively
- is capable of ensuring MSC’s value proposition remains strong and meets the needs of commercial partners.
We’re an international organisation and our employees all demonstrate a level of cultural awareness, and value the diverse views and approaches relevant to the MSC program.
The MSC is committed to flexible working. We are currently running a trial for hybrid working, and the successful candidate will need to work from the UK office for a minimum of 50% of their working time each month.
