Description  

The CDSB Secretariat is looking for an ambitious Stakeholder Engagement Manager to help build relationships with key policymakers and other stakeholders in its priority jurisdictions globally. 

The Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) works to create the enabling conditions for companies to disclose high-quality environmental information to their investors, thereby influencing their decisions and contributing to financially resilient capital markets worldwide. 

As a Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for driving CDSB’s engagement in a range of countries globally, engaging with Government departments, business and industry associations, as well as other stakeholders in sustainable finance. CDSB’s engagement strategy is to improve environmental reporting in corporate annual reports by understanding the local ecosystem and engaging all relevant stakeholders. Your countries of focus may include the USA, UK, EU Member States, Japan, Canada, India, Brazil, Mexico and others. The successful candidate will have experience in influencing both policy and other stakeholders, with an understanding of sustainable finance and ESG reporting. 

CDSB is an international award-winning initiative and this position in the global Secretariat provides the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to gain experience and make your mark on the sustainable finance, helping to ensure the crucial interface between financial and non-financial information related to climate and the environment. 

CDP hosts the CDSB Secretariat, and the role will be based in CDP’s London offices (with current working from home policy in place due to COVID-19) and will report to the Policy & External Affairs Director in Berlin. 

Stakeholder Engagement Manager responsibilities include: 

  • Building relationships and identifying opportunities for collaboration on joint outreach and engagement opportunities with local organisations; 
  • Capacity building on the need for, and the way to strengthen existing requirements on and environmental and social reporting in key jurisdictions; 
  • Working with the Policy & External Affairs Director, development of a local engagement plan in CDSB’s priority countries based on CDSB’s strategy and grant deliverables; 
  • Identification and engagement of key policy, industry and other stakeholders in priority countries; 
  • Engagement with the local stock exchange and others on ways to support the local market in improving their environmental reporting; 
  • Providing CDSB’s expertise to governments on technical issues related to reporting; 
  • Following and engaging in legislative processes as they relate to CDSB’s mission; 
  • Writing and/or coordinating consultation responses; and 
  • Developing position papers and briefing notes based on CDSB’s positions and technical research. 

The successful candidate will have: 

  • A degree in international affairs, policy, law, a related field or relevant professional experience; 
  • The ability to understand complex ideas and link them to government policies; 
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure; 
  • An understanding of ESG reporting and the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail and rigour; 
  • Strong networking, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral; 
  • Strong written and oral knowledge of English 
  • At least 4 years’ experience engaging with policymakers on sustainability, finance or other related topics in Europe; 
  • A good understanding of policy development processes; 
  • A good understanding of issues around sustainable finance; and 
  • An understanding of, and desire to work proactively to promote corporate sustainability. 

Desirable: 

  • Working knowledge of Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, or other languages is a strong bonus; 
  • Experience in the field of accounting and finance policy 

The contract of employment will be with CDP Worldwide. Some international travel may be required, when safe to do so. 

Salary: 

£35,000-£40,000, based on experience.
