We are Scotland’s nature agency. Scotland’s nature and landscapes are among our greatest assets. Nature gives us food and drinking water, energy, and timber. It contributes to a clean and healthy environment. And it improves our well-being and quality of life. We work to improve our natural environment in Scotland and inspire everyone to care more about it. So that all nature in Scotland – our key habitats and landscapes, all our green space and our native species – is maintained, enhanced, and brings us benefits. It is the job of all of us to achieve a balance in the sensitive management of our natural world in order to maintain and enhance biodiversity.
Working towards Scotland’s ‘green recovery’ from Covid-19, we want to stimulate a revival that secures resilience through a nature-rich future for Scotland and an effective response to the climate emergency. This means that by 2030, Scotland will be recognised as a world leader in looking after and enhancing nature.
