Do you have a passion for food and want to be at the forefront of food distribution in Barnet?
Barnet Food Hub coordinates the distribution of food to Foodbanks and community groups across the borough. Set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this essential service ensures Barnet based foodbanks have the ability to provide sufficient, safe and nutritious food to all those who use their services, whilst also diverting food away from the waste cycle.
Since November 2020, the Barnet Food Hub have over 400 tonnes of food. It is distributed to a network of 30 plus community organisations, who are feeding approximately 4000 people per week. Any food that is not fit for human consumption is fed into our network of food waste solutions – ensuring no food ends up in landfill. By connecting a wasteful food system with rising food poverty in Barnet, we are tackling pressing social and environmental issues.
Groundwork London are seeking a new Food Hub Project Manager to oversee and coordinate the day to day operations of the hub and lead the future development of the service. Responsibilities include site management, food sourcing and procurement from both the surplus / waste food chain and wider suppliers, stock and warehouse management, supply and demand forecasting and food collection / delivery planning and logistic. Each day is fast paced at the Hub, with emerging and changing priorities.
This post will manage the Food Hub Assistant, oversee the work of the Food Hub Support Officer and coordinate a team of dedicated volunteers. Furthermore, the post will lead the Barnet Food Bank network and continue to build partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders in surplus food and waste (including food surplus charities e.g. Felix Project, national supermarkets and many other local organisations).
Please contact us if you are:
- Passionate and knowledgeable about surplus food distribution and experience working on / leading projects in this field.
- Proactive with a can-do attitude
- Highly organised, with good leadership qualities.
- Skilled in building and maintaining Partnerships with a range of stakeholders.
- Confident in budget management.
- Able to prioritise and lead in a fast-paced working environment.
The Barnet Food Hub is delivered by Barnet Together. Barnet Together is a collaboration between Inclusion Barnet, Volunteering Barnet and the Young Barnet Foundation.
