We are seeking a conservation ecologist with a degree in a relevant biological discipline and experience in the production, or application of, spatial or quantitative analyses.
The scientist will work within UNEP-WCMC’s Science Programme which aims to enhance the scientific quality of the Centre’s work through research, training and partnership development. The role will focus on providing technical support on a variety of quantitative analyses including projects within marine, freshwater and terrestrial realms and may include the temporal or spatial analysis of biodiversity/ecosystem services data from empirical or model sources.
The role will assist with the delivery of multiple projects possibly including work with the Multi-dimensional Biodiversity Index, the Ecosystem Integrity Index and the Trade Hub. Tasks may include the production of current-day maps of biodiversity, ecosystem services or their drivers, as well as the use of scenarios or extrapolation techniques to examine possible future trends in such data. The successful candidate will be able to critically assess the production of methodologies for such layers and be trained to use a variety of tools to assist data storage, analysis and visualisation.
