Organisation Overview

Blue Ventures is an award-winning marine conservation organisation working to rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities. We’re committed to protecting marine biodiversity in ways that benefit coastal people. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures and economies.

Summary Job Description

Do you have a passion and talent for communication? Do you care about the marine environment and the coastal communities who rely on it? Do you want to be part of a rapidly growing social enterprise, advocating for the rights of small-scale fishers and showcasing grassroots conservation efforts in some of the world’s most important marine biodiversity hotspots? Are you reactive, dynamic and able to get things done in a fast moving work environment?

We’re looking for a creative communications specialist to join our new national advocacy and outreach team in Madagascar. The successful candidate will work closely with Madagascar-based conservation colleagues and UK-based communications colleagues to deliver a dedicated national communications strategy for Madagascar, boosting our capacity to capture and share information at all levels from local communities to national and international partners.

The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive and highly organised individual, with a good knowledge of the small-scale fisheries, marine conservation and rural development sectors. The successful candidate will also lead our internal communications within Madagascar, using appropriate platforms to facilitate meaningful exchanges across site and programme teams. You’ll be able to proactively engage a range of different audiences with your writing, and comfortable taking a project all the way from idea to a variety of published outputs depending on the context

Application Process

Applicants should apply online, using the form below, by December 3rd, 2018.

Please note that applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and first-round interviews may be conducted with short-listed candidates before the application deadline.
