From August 1st 2022, Groundwork London will be managing and coordinating a Borough Food Hub in North East London. We will be responsible for the distribution of food, to organisations, such as foodbanks, community kitchens and shelters who then redistribute food to those in need across the Borough. This essential service will ensure foodbanks have the ability to provide sufficient, safe and nutritious food to all those who use their services, whilst also diverting food away from the waste cycle.
Groundwork London are seeking a Food Hub Project Manager to manage and coordinate the day to day operations of the central food hub. You will be supported by and manage a full-time Food Hub Officer and recruit and coordinate a team of volunteers.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Site, stock and warehouse management
- Lead communications with surplus food partners, for example Felix project
- Food collection / delivery logistics including the set-up of the distribution network
- Supply / demand forecasting and project reporting, informed by data from foodbanks partners and organisations
- Expand food sourcing and procurement from both the surplus / waste food chain and wider suppliers
- Partnership working, setting-up and leading the food bank network and achieving a zero food waste strategy at the food hub
- Volunteer/staff management and recruitment
The post will also work closely with the client and stakeholders to develop the borough Food Strategy and Food Action Plan.
Each day is fast paced, with emerging and changing priorities. This role is physically demanding and will involve regular lifting and moving goods. Full training in manual handling and use of front-end loading equipment will be provided.
