Description

A wonderful opportunity to make a powerful impact in an organisation committed to the long term conservation of the world’s critically threatened habitats and their endangered species. World land Trust (WLT) has a vacancy for a Head of Marketing & Communications who will work with and inspire a small, dynamic and knowledgeable team in the UK.  This job requires a very special person who can interpret, promote and clearly articulate the mission and ethos of the WLT.

Working with WLT

WLT is unique within the conservation world. With a track record of 28 years it started as a vision for a new model of conservation and has developed its modus operandi without losing that vision, integrity and transparency.  WLT has been instrumental in the purchase and long term protection of millions of acres working through its overseas conservation partners. You will have a sound knowledge of charity giving, ideally within the environmental arena and will need to work quickly to become fluent in the Trust’s work and its projects.

What you’ll be doing

WLT’s communications team consists of 6 staff members; you will interact with them all and, in due course, take on some line management responsibilities.

The job requires you to be outgoing and energetic and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life including existing donors and engaging new ones. Integrity, commitment to the cause and being quick to learn are just some of the qualities you will need to demonstrate. You will need a proven track record of success in fundraising, communications and marketing development and will have a fluid attitude and a lively mind that relishes innovation.

You will be qualified to oversee the development and constant maintenance of the website, enjoy all elements of social media and be just as comfortable with the written word. You will need to demonstrate exceptionally good communication skills both written and verbal. You will develop a strategy to secure a wide variety of income streams and will manage a marketing budget which looks at income generation in conjunction with marketing spend.

Who we’re looking for

There is no question that the successful candidate will be unusual.  Requirements within this post are many and challenging. We are looking for exceptionally personable candidates who are keen to integrate themselves into a small dedicated team of 20 staff while grasping responsibility with both hands. We need a proven track record in fundraising, marketing and communications, a lively personality that mixes well and shares the ethos of WLT. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent team development skills and be a leader in public relations. An ability to use a creative approach to inspire and speak with confidence, while listening and learning is a must.

The post is full time, based in WLT’s offices in Halesworth, Suffolk.  Some travel, including overseas, may be involved.

Salary £27,500 per annum.
