We are looking for a dynamic and digitally skilled Communications Officer to develop NWIFCA communications strategy and manage a multi-functional database, including the process of issuing fisheries permits.
• Full Time: 37 hours per week (Flexi-time system in operation) • Contract: 2 Years Fixed Term with possibility of extension • Pension Scheme: Local government pension scheme in operation • Canvassing of members of the Authority for any appointment under the Authority shall disqualify the candidate concerned for that appointment - Standing Orders 11.2(a)
The main duties of the post are: • Develop and implement the Authority’s communications and PR strategy • Develop digital communications for the Authority • Manage database and issue permits under the direction of Head of Enforcement • Prepare and update policy and compliance documents • Clerk to Technical Science and Byelaw Sub-Committee and Vessel Sub-Committee
The post holder will develop communications with the Authority, the media and stakeholders through creative use and management of digital channels. The ideal candidate will have: • Good general education – University degree or equivalent in a relevant subject • Experience in digital communications with advanced IT and database skills • Fluency in English and ability to write and deliver effective communication • Experience of using and developing social media to share information • Good knowledge of fisheries and conservation issues and legislation, with particular emphasis on the area of NWIFCA and enthusiasm for the marine environment • Good interpersonal skills to work with colleagues, Authority members and stakeholders • Self-motivation and well organized to plan and prioritise own workload • Creativity to present information to different groups in a relevant and interesting way • Ability to deal with problems and resolve potential conflicts • Willing and flexible to assist other colleagues in NWIFCA with a wide range of duties • Forward thinking to propose and integrate new developments and approaches
