We’re looking for an exceptional Campaign Strategy Leader to lead our Defenders Team.
About us
Our campaigns aim to create a real step-change in addressing some of the underlying causes of global warming. We are not in the business of tinkering at the edges. Instead, we want a new economic landscape in which people and the planet take priority. We know systemic change is difficult to achieve, but we also know that it is possible. That’s why, in the face of depressing daily headlines about the progress being made to address the climate crisis, we remain optimistic that the climate movement will ultimately succeed.
About the role
If we want to avert a climate disaster and deliver climate justice, governments and businesses must protect Land and Environmental Defenders and ensure their voices are heard. As our campaign strategy lead, you will lead our investigations, research and advocacy efforts to expose the links between incidents of intimidation or violence against defenders and irresponsible global agribusiness.
This role will involve seeing or hearing about human rights abuses, and Global Witness will support you to manage your mental well-being.
About you
You will bring the ability to think strategically and a proven track record of developing and leading campaigns with demonstrated global impact. You are a compelling and authentic communicator who can network and influence at all levels with a broad range of individuals and organisations.
The successful candidate will be an established inclusive leader and manager who has the experience and ability to lead and inspire a committed and passionate team.
Working for us
Global Witness has a great team of people based in Beijing, Brussels, London and Washington DC. We want to be a diverse and inclusive place to work. Therefore, we do our best to make our jobs accessible to all regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation or identity.
This role is located in our London office. Our offices are currently closed and subject to government guidelines; we hope to reopen at the end of July. However, all our employees can choose to continue to work from home (providing it is a UK location) until the end of 2021.
Applying
We’ve produced a candidate pack (below) which tells you more about this exciting opportunity and how you can apply. The deadline for application is Sunday 18 July at midnight BST.
If you have a disability and would prefer to apply in a different format or would like us to make any reasonable adjustments to enable you to apply or attend an interview, please let us know.
